Favorite Resources of 2018

On Tuesday I listed my favorite books of 2018. Now it’s time to list some of my favorite resources — blogs, podcasts, and other resources — that I’ve enjoyed in the past year.

Favorite Blogs

If you want to know all the blogs I follow, you can download this OPML file. If I were to cut back to my favorites, here are the ones I’d choose.

  • Challies — Tim earns top spot for quality and consistency. His daily A La Carte is a daily roundup of some of the best posts each day.
  • Desiring God — The quality of writing is superb. I find a few really helpful articles here pretty much every week.
  • TGC — It’s hard to remember when The Gospel Coalition wasn’t around. The editorial team does a great job providing great content.
  • FTC and Jared Wilson — Jared is one of my favorite writers. He used to post more regularly at his own blog, but these days he’s curating content at For the Church. It’s worth reading anything that he writes.
  • Trevin Wax — Trevin is one of the best thinkers out there in matters of theology and culture.
  • The Exchange — There’s only one Ed Stetzer. His posts on John Chau were the best I’ve read in the past few weeks, and that’s typical of Ed.
  • East Coast Veritas — Brad Somers is a church planter in Halifax. He doesn’t post often, but he gets me thinking.
  • Building Jerusalem — A new one for me, and one I’ve really enjoyed reading. It’s written by a pastor in the Greater Manchester area of the UK.
  • Seth Godin — Seth has mastered the art of short, insightful posts.

Favorite Podcasts

  • Immanuel Nashville — I don’t listen to a lot of online sermons, but I listen to these. Solid, pastoral, and winsome.
  • This Cultural Moment — I’ve become hooked on this insightful podcast from John Mark Comer and Mark Sayers.
  • Pastor’s Talk — I’ve grown to appreciate the ministry of 9Marks. This podcast is a great one for pastors and elders.
  • Akimbo — More Seth Godin. Insightful and a little quirky.
  • Reply All — Some language, but usually enjoyable on a range of topics.

Favorite Resources

  • Ulysses — A program that has made my writing life a lot easier. I write almost everything in it.
  • PrayerMate — It organizes my prayer life. I use it every day.
  • AppSumo — Lifetime deals on tech services. A little too addictive.
  • Feedly — I use this to keep up with blogs.
  • Logos 8 — I’ve upgraded, and they keep making this program better and better.
