Gospel for Life Coaching

planning

A number of years ago, my wife Char began to work as an accountant for an online nutrition company. That sounded pretty sketchy. I checked out their website and grew even more concerned. I thought she had been duped.

It turns out that the company was legitimate. They had Ph.D.’s in nutrition science, and they knew how to translate the science into everyday life. I watched as Char lost over 60 pounds.

Hacking Habits

Looking back, the nutrition company did a few things well:

  • They translated theory into habits.
  • They provided coaching to help reenforce those habits.
  • They stacked those habits so that they created lasting change.

Eventually we realized that this company was discipling people. We began to think about how to use a similar approach to disciple people within the church.

Char eventually left the company with a desire to take what she’d learned and use it to help Christians grow by applying the gospel to every part of life. This led to a lot of reading, studying, and experimentation — and ultimately to a project we’ve been working on for a couple of years called Gospel for Life.

Gospel for Life

In 2016 we ran a beta test of Gospel for Life Coaching. It was a 7-week program designed to help people build key habits, backed with coaching from Char and myself.

Things worked pretty well. Since then we’ve run the program five times, both in our church plant and beyond.

To be honest, we got stuck last year due to some personal circumstances and trying to figure out what to do next. Plus I got distracted with the publication of How to Grow. But we’re unstuck again, and we’ve been working hard on a new iteration of the program. It’s now 4 months, and it’s on a platform that allows for more interaction among participants. It’s been a lot of work, but we’re excited to get going again.

And that’s why I’m writing this post.

Help Us Launch

From March 2 to 6, we’ll be opening registration for a new session of G4L Coaching. The new session will begin on Monday, March 11 and run for four months. It includes daily content, personal coaching, and community.

If you’re interested, please check out GospelforLife.com and sign up to be notified when registration opens.

We are charging for the session to help cover the costs of running it, but we’re also making financial assistance available when needed. Our goal isn’t to make money but to break even so that we can run Gospel for Life in a sustainable way.

If you’re a pastor, we’re especially interested in talking to you. We’d love to help you offer G4L Coaching in your own church to help people grow. Please contact us if interested.

Mark March 2 in your calendar, sign up to our email list, and let others know if you think they’d be interested. Most of all, please pray for us. We pray that Gospel for Life will help people grow, get engaged in the local church, and glorify God.
