Hi subscriber,

Here's a thought, a quote, and a resource I wanted to share with you this Thursday.

I’ve been enjoying Churchill: Walking With Destiny by Andrew Roberts.

In 1945, Churchill was defeated in a general election after leading Britain to victory in World War II. “One reason that Churchill was not crushed by the election defeat was partly because he was an historian, and knew the many precedents well,” writes Roberts. Churchill saw repeating patterns, and it helped him to understand his times.

History may be one of the most undervalued means of understanding and interpreting the present.

“Prayers offered in the state of dryness are those which please him best.” (C.S. Lewis)
