Hi subscriber,

Here's a thought, a quote, and a resource I wanted to share with you this Thursday.

A few of my pastor friends read old books. They are more likely to read books that are centuries old than new releases.

When I’m with them, I notice that they have ballast in their souls. I’ve tried to figure out why. I think it’s partly because they continually feast on good spiritual food rather than all the noise. They cultivate depth in their inputs, and it’s led them to depth in their souls.

I’m not there yet, but I sure appreciate friends who show me the way.

“The best use of one’s life is to spend it on something that will outlast it.” (Oswald Sanders)

Crossway is offering any church in the United States up to 208 free paperback copies (with free shipping) of Dane Ortlund’s best-selling book Gentle and Lowly, while supplies last.

Thanks for reading!
