Hi [subscriber:firstname | default:subscriber],

Here's a thought, a quote, and a resource I wanted to share with you this Thursday.
A THOUGHT

I just got back from a breakfast with a ministry leader. Two hours with him reenergized my soul. It helped me to rise above my current busyness to see new ministry possibilities.

Some people drain us. Gordon MacDonald calls these EGR (extra grace required) people. Those people are a gift to us too. We need to learn to see people the way God does and learn to love everyone, even the ones that don’t feed us. It’s not all about us.

But we also need people who energize us and bring out the best in us.

A couple of hours with the right person can do wonders for your soul. I know I needed that today.
A QUOTE

Do everything you can to avoid the noise and business of men. Keep as far away as you can from the places where they gather to cheat and insult one another, to exploit one another, to laugh at one another, to mock one another with their false gestures of friendship. Be glad if you can keep beyond the reach of their radios. Do not bother with unearthly songs. Do not read their advertisements.

The contemplative life certainly does not demand self-righteous contempt for the habits and diversions of ordinary people. But nevertheless, no man who seeks liberation and light in solitude, no man who seeks spiritual freedom, can afford to yield passively to all the appeals of a society of salesmen, advertisers and consumers.

A RESOURCE

I generally think that new apps can be a distraction rather than a help. But I’m intrigued by Obsidian. It’s a knowledge management system with a steep learning curve, but it’s got real power.

If you’re looking for something that’s almost as powerful but easier to use, I’m hearing great things about Craft Notes (Apple only).
