Hi [subscriber:firstname | default:subscriber],

Here's a thought, a quote, and a resource I wanted to share with you this Thursday.
A THOUGHT

I spent three weeks preaching for a friend while he was on holiday.

Last Sunday, the final week, my friend appeared on video to greet the congregation. In both services, you could sense how happy people were to see their pastor again, even on video.

It was one of the highlights of my week.

When I read Scripture, I’m often captivated by the theology, as I should be. Theology is amazing.

But I’m also captivated by the affection among God’s people. Verses like Read Acts 20:36-38 (“there was much weeping on the part of all; they embraced Paul and kissed him”) and Philippians 4:1 (“Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown…”) carry a lot of emotional weight.

One of the most compelling features of Christianity is the love that it creates among God’s people. It’s a beautiful thing to see. It’s a horrible thing when it’s missing.
A QUOTE

“Push back against the age as hard as it pushes against you. What people don’t realize is how much religion costs. They think faith is a big electric blanket, when of course it is the cross.”

(Flannery O’Connor)
A RESOURCE

I love Patrick Schreiner’s book The Visual Word. It offers a visual guide to each book of the New Testament.

Moody Publishers has just made all the outlines from The Visual Word available to download for free so you can use them in teaching, preaching, and studying.

Download them in the Free Resources section of this page.
Thanks for reading!
