Hi subscriber,

Here's a thought, a quote, and a resource I wanted to share with you this Thursday.

“Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not…”

These lyrics from the hymn Great Is They Faithfulness tie a a doctrine about God (his immutability) to an application: we can always count on God’s compassion.

I’m amazed at how a song can teach a rich doctrine about God and apply it so well in just a few words. Because God doesn’t change, we don’t have to worry about him changing his mind about us. He will never run out of compassion for us.

So succinct. So mind-blowing. So helpful.

“It can be exalting to belong to a church that is five hundred years behind the times and sublimely indifferent to fashion; it is mortifying to belong to a church that is five minutes behind the times, huffing and puffing to catch up.”

(Joseph Sobran)
