Hi subscriber,

Here's a thought, a quote, and a resource I wanted to share with you this Thursday.

I have to sing my way into Christmas.

I don’t know why, but I don’t get as excited about Christmas as much as others. I can be a little Grinch.

But then the songs get to me, like this one:

Veiled in flesh the Godhead see
Hail the incarnate Deity
Pleased as man with man to dwell
Jesus, our Emmanuel

Slowly, my heart moves in the direction of worship and awe.

Martin Luther once said, “Music is a glorious gift of God, very like to theology. I would not part with my little gifts of music for anything in the world. We ought to teach the young this art, for it makes fine and clever people.”

Worshipful people too.

“I’m running out of time, not text. Or wonder. The problem with Advent and Christmas messages isn't knowing what to say, it's deciding what not to say … How inadequate I am for the task of telling this story of stories, this fulfillment of every longing.”

(David Cassidy)
