Hi subscriber,

Here's a thought, a quote, and a resource I wanted to share with you this Thursday.
A THOUGHT

I’ve been thinking about courage this past week.

Courage is shown when something matters more than your own life, so that your life takes on secondary importance.

We’ve seen this in Ukraine this past week. I see it in many Christians throughout history, right to today, who know that death is not the worst thing that could happen to them. As Jesus said, “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10:28).

As I watch examples of courage in the news, I’m reminded that I also have something worth living and dying for. And so do you.

I’m praying for those who are showing courage in Ukraine, and I’m praying for more of the same virtue in my life too.
A QUOTE

A reporter asked C. S. Lewis about the hydrogen bomb. In his reply Lewis said, “Anyhow, when the bomb falls, there will always be just that split second in which one can say, ‘Pooh! You’re only a bomb. I am an immortal soul!’”

More could be said, of course; but this must be said.

A RESOURCE

Brett McCracken’s Wisdom 40 Challenge is a great resource for Lent.

“The Wisdom Pyramid contains six categories/levels. Below are five suggested activities for each category. Over a span of 40 days, try to check off at least two of the five options in each category.”
