Hi subscriber,

Here's a thought, a quote, and a resource I wanted to share with you this Thursday.
A THOUGHT

Near the end of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the classic children’s fantasy by C.S. Lewis, Caspian, king of Narnia, faced a decision whether or not to lead the ship as close to World’s End at the rim of the earth. Many of the sailors already felt weary. One of them was already broken. “I don’t think I should take them further without their knowledge and consent,” says Caspian, king of Narnia.

Some on the crew expressed a desire to end the journey. Others wanted to press on. It would look silly, one says, “if we come home and say we got to the beginning of the world’s end and hadn’t the heart to go further.”

The discussion ends when Caspian jumps to his feet.

“Friends,” he said, “I think you have not quite understood our purpose. You talk as if we had come to you with our hat in our hand, begging for shipmates. It isn’t like that at all. We and our royal brother and sister and their kinsman and Sir Reepicheep, the good knight, and the Lord Drinian have an errand to the world’s edge. It is our pleasure to choose from among such of you as are willing those whom we deem worthy of so high an enterprise.

We often get it wrong. We often debate whether we should take the lowest place in service of God and others, as if we have better options. What Caspian said to the sailors is true of us. The question isn’t whether we’re willing to take the lowest place, but whether or not we are worthy of so high an enterprise.
A QUOTE

“As there are no little people in God’s sight, so there are no little places. To be wholly committed to God in the place where God wants him—this is the creature glorified.”

(Francis Schaeffer)
