Hi subscriber,

Here's a thought, a quote, and a resource I wanted to share with you this Thursday.
A THOUGHT

I always find this time of year a little overwhelming. Life gets busier, and while Fall can be beautiful, I also miss the longer days.

This year is even more tiring. Two experts on humanitarian disasters write that we’re in the disillusionment phase of the pandemic. “The bad news is that the disillusionment phase sometimes feels like a forever phase.”

I’m learning a couple of lessons and trying to apply them this year:

  1. Get a little more rest. I’m trying to learn the importance of rest instead of just ignoring my fatigue and pushing through.
  2. Come to God tired. I like coming to God when I feel good. I’m only beginning to learn the importance of coming to God when I feel fatigued and needy and need more of his grace.
David Murray writes that there are many “faithful and zealous Christians, especially those aged thirty-five-plus, who need to hear [the] message: ‘Slow your pace or you’ll never finish the race.’” Important and timely words.
A QUOTE

“If God answered every one of your prayers, would it change anybody’s life except your own?” (quoted in Bob Goff’s book Dream Big)
A RESOURCE

I love when churches make resources available for other churches.

Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. has made their Core Seminars available for other churches to use free of charge. They cover a variety of topics, and they’re very good.

“Please feel free to use this Core Seminar material in your church and reproduce handouts as necessary.”
Thanks for reading!
